A stepping Stone Process for Organizations to Become Inclusive Employers
“Steps is more than a training centre or coffee shop. It is a safe community space for all”, says Max Simpson (Founder and CEO of Steps).
She goes on to point out that there are more than two million people with disabilities living in Thailand. They have as much talent, skill, and value to add to the workplace as anyone else. But less than two percent of them have had vocational training and less than 25 percent of them are employed.
Steps was founded in 2016 to achieve its mission of employment equity for the neurodivergent community by offering three key services: access to appropriate and meaningful education; modelling inclusive and sustainable businesses; and empowering employers to become inclusive. They run vocational training centres and a range of social businesses such as coffee shops in Bangkok and Phuket for young adults (some of whom have learning differences), to gain the skills they need to access a fulfilling career.
